Born March 30, 1913, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Randolph and Elizabeth Catherine Dawson Spriggs.
Her husband, Emil Thomas Dawson, died Jan. 1, 1993.
She attended public school in Great Cacapon, W.Va.
She worked as a cook at Mount Garfield School, Morgan County; and worked seasonally with National Fruit in Winchester, Va., and Little Miss Tomato Factory in Morgan County. She was a homemaker in recent years.
She was the oldest living member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by
three sons,
Curtis G. Dawson of Miamisburg, Ohio,
Emil J. Dawson of White Plains, Md., and
Mark K. Dawson of Berkeley Springs;
one sister,
Wilma Farris of Great Cacapon;
five grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; and
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
one sister, Velda Bader; and
three brothers,
Beverly T. Spriggs,
James C. Spriggs and
Harry E. Spriggs.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Tuesday for the convenience of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Chapel Cemetery Association, c/o Paul Williams, 108 Finch Drive, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
