Joseph L. Hagerman, 53, of McSherrystown, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at 2:10 o'clock, while working in Hampstead, Md. Death was due to a heart attack.

Mr. Hagerman was a native of McSherrystown, the son of the late Francis E. and Gertrude S. (Gallagher) Hagerman.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in Europe. He was a stone mason and was working on a new school building in Hampstead, when the heart attack occured.

Mr. Hagerman was a member of the McSherrystown Moose Lodge; and the Littlestown Eagles; Hanover Republican Club; and the Hanover American Legion.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Susan K. Shue at home; and Miss Linda L. Hagerman of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandsons; a brother, Francis E. Hagerman of 143 Main St., McSherrystown; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary L. Birgensmith, 127 North St., McSherrystown; Miss Charlotte V. Hagerman, 216 North St., McSherrystown; Mrs. Gertrude Snyder, 344 Fairview Ave., McSherrystown; and Mrs. Rsemarie Bowman, 411 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown.

Funeral services and interment will take place at the convenience of the family on Saturday. Friends may call at the Leonard B. Hicks Funeral Home in McSherrystown on Friday evening.
