Mrs. Nila Bean
Died, at Grand Rapids, Wood Co., on the 9th inst., Mrs. Nila Bean, aged 54, wife of E. G. Bean, Esq., late of this city.
The sudden demise of this estimable lady, spreads a general gloom throughout this community. Every one was her friend, and deplores her loss. Judge Bean and his wife were among the first to break in upon the wilds of this Pinery forest, and none more than he and the subject of this notice, endured greater hardships in reducing it to the comfortable abode of the white man. Mrs. Bean was like an angel of mercy and peace in every cabin where distress, sickness or pain found an entrance; and her never failing Christian charities, have endeared her name and embalmed her memory in a thousand hearts.
She died in the enjoyment of the Christian's hope, as she had lived in its faith, which character she had adorned for a long life without reproach; she was a consistent and earnest member of the Episcopal Church, the members of which in this city will mourn the departure of a beloved sister in Christ, and an example worthy of being commended and followed.
