See for a very detailed story about the Elings family in the USA by a granddaughter of Carolina and a granddaughter's husband: http://www.wtblock.com/wtblockjr/a_j_elings_dutch.htm.

Caroline was the third of five children and the only daughter of Adrian J. Elings and Agatha Stufkens who got adult.

The family emigrated in November 1897 on the SS Olinda to Texas, USA, where they lived until December 1900 in the Dutch settlement Nederland, Jefferson County, in the utter southeastern part of the state, about eight miles from the Atlantic Ocean. They moved then to New Glatz in Maryland, just south of Washington DC and in June 1903 to the Dutch settlement Holland, later on called Amsterdam-Churchill, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana, just northwest of Yellowstone National Park.

Carolina Elings married on 18 October 1905 to Clauson Bos, who had Dutch parents too. They had five children and they lived in the period 1905-1918 at Churchill, Gallatin, Montana, and at Zillah, Washington from 1918 until 1926; then they returned to Churchill.
