Ernest J. Kalkhoff, 76, of Morgan, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Redwood Falls Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan with a combined parish, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Aid rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Morgan; children, Kathleen Sellner and husband Dave of Sleepy Eye and Luvern Kalkoff and wife Marion of Morgan; brothers, Bernard and wife Bernice of Morgan, Jerome and wife Joan of Clements; sisters, Rita Goblirsch and husband Francis of Wabasso, Beatrice Serbus and husband George of Hector and Bernice Snkyr of Franklin; and five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

He was born on Dec, 22, 1924, in Templeton, Iowa, to Henry and Kathryn (Fangmann) Kalkhoff. He moved to rural Clements at the age of two with his family. He attended District 101 and Wabasso schools and graduated from Wabasso High School in 1942. He married Dorothy Koll at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan on May 2, 1950. They lived in Clements until 1957, when they moved to Olivia. They moved to Morgan Township in 1960 where he farmed until 2001. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a member of Catholic Aid and served as financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus for nine years.
