Dewey Lee Lovelady 86, of Nederland, TX, passed away Monday, October 3, 2005 at Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin, Texas where he had evacuated from hurricane Rita. Dewey had fought a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
Dewey was born on April 4, 1919 in Bronson, Texas. Dewey lived in Nederland for 52 years and was a retired electrician with I.B.E.W. Local Union # 479.
Dewey was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. Dewey's main interest was being with his family and faithful companion, his daschund, "Copper."
Dewey is survived by his wife of 53 years Laura Lovelady of Nederland, and two sons; Michael Lovelady and his wife Wanda, and Victor Lovelady and his wife Maureen and five grandchildren; Kevin, Jason, Ashley, Erin, and Grant Lovelady all of Nederland. One brother, Huey Lovelady of Silsbee, also survives him.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 13, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Broussard's Mortuary 505 12th. St. in Nederland, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 14, 2005 at Broussard's Nederland Chapel with Dr. Bryan Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Lovelady, Gregory Lovelady, Mike Sheffield, James Garrett, Phillip Gouthier, and Glen Crorey.
