10/13/1949-Tuttle Times:
Bro C.L. Taylor, former minister of the Church of Christ, assisted by the present minister, Bro Fred Dennis, conducted final rites for James Franklin Jones, 81, in the Church of Christ, Sunday. Mr Jones passed away Friday in the Mercy hospital in Oklahoma City. He was a former Tuttle resident, having lived in Oklahoma City since 1947 upon retiring from farming, east of town. They resided at 2423 SW 28th, Oklahoma City. Music was furnished by Mrs Claud McGee, Mrs Horace Potter, Mrs Jesse Hawkins, Bro Dennis, Kay Nickels, B.C. Hoover, and Harden Green. Pallbearers were: Clyde Jones, Jess J. Hawkins, Clyde Janssen, Kenneth Jones, & Jim and Allen Davison. Interment was in the Fairlawn cemetery at Tuttle under the direction of Sowers funeral home.
James Franklin Jones was born 9/14/1868 in Partia, Ark, and died 10/21/1949. He was married 11/11/1889 to Ceclia Basler. He became a member of the Newcastle Church of Christ in 1901. Survivors include his wife, of the home address, 2 sons, O.J. of Oklahoma City, & Marvin of Arizona, 3 daughter, Mrs Hillard Swerd of Jourdanton, TX, Mrs John Wallace of Blanchard, & Mrs Clara Bowser of Los Angeles, Calif, 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
