LEWIS CARTER, WELL KNOWN FARMER, DIES
Had lived in the Glasgow community most of entire life.
Lewis Clyde Carter, 61, life-long resident of Jefferson county, passed away at his home 12 miles southeast of Fairfield yesterday at 5:40 p.m. He had been in poor health for the past several months, and seriously ill for the past 30 days
Funeral services will be held at the church in Glasgow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. S.P. Williamson. Burial will be in the Glasgow cemetery.
Mr. Carter was born February 17, 1879 near Glasgow in Jefferson County and spent practically his entire life in that community. He had resided at his present home southwest of Glasgow for the past 25 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Glen Giberson with whom he made his home recently, two brothers, Elmer B. Carter of Ottumwa and Charles L.Carter of Stockport: one sister, Mrs. E.C. Moorman, Greely, Colo. and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter passed away November 26, 1915. One daughter, Mary Ethel Heisel, also preceded him in death. She died March 22, 1936, and another daughter passed away in infancy.
The body was brought to Hoskins funeral home
yesterday.
