Elmer was born in Decatur, son of Louis and Goldie Banning. He married Blanche Kopp on March 9, 1933.
He was former caretaker of Maroa Cemetery, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Garver Brick United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Green of Kentucky; Mrs. Herbert (Janet) Bricker of Findlay; father and stepmother, Louis and Ina Banning of Decatur; brothers. Glenn of Oreana; William and Clarence, both of Decatur; sisters. Verna Grubbs of Oreana; Virginia Roy of Decatur; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Two sisters and one grandchild preceded him in death.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery.
