Mr. Grant was born and raised and attended high school and community college in El Dorado, KS. He served in the U.S. Navy and attended St. Thomas University and the University of Kansas School of Law. He joined his father in the practice of law in 1951 after being joined in marriage to his life long mate Mary Jo Davis Grant. He was still practicing law at the time of his death 60 years later. He was an attorney in Butler County Attorney's Office, as lawyer for the local school board and was a founding member of the Family Life Center Safehouse in El Dorado. He was a graduate of the World Peace Through Law academy in the Hague, Denmark. He was elected to two terms in the Kansas Legislature and served on the State Board of Education. Ervin was a founding member of the Flint Hills Overland Wagon Train, an attraction that brought visitors from all over the world to El Dorado. An active member of the First United Methodist Church for 70 years he served on many local and conference committees including earning accreditation as a Lay Minister. He wrote a column on the history of Kansas for the news publication The El Dorado Times. He also wrote two books-" Reawakenings" and "Trials of a Small Town Lawyer."
Mr Grant was a kind, ethical man of integrity and strength.
