Joyce Anderson was born in Kittson County July 12, 1929, the daughter of J. Alfred and Emma (Peterson) Anderson. She received her elementary education in a country school and graduated from Karlstad High School. She went on to attend Moorhead State Teachers College where she received her degree in education. She began her teaching career at a country school and went on to teach in Greenbush and Lake Bronson.
On October 31, 1953 she married Vergil Poole at the East Emmaus Church. The couple farmed near Lake Bronson until 2006 when they moved to Thief River Falls.
Joyce was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, WELCA and was a former Sunday School teacher.
Family members include her husband, Vergil; two sons, Corwin (Sally) Poole, Green River, Wyo. and Michael (Kelly) Poole, Crookston, Minn.; five grandchildren, John, Joel, Sarah, Nicholas and Alex; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Lawrence and Lloyd.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson. Interment was in the East Emmaus Cemetery.
Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presided; Dewayne Sjostrand, soloist; Lenore Olson, organist.
Pall bearers were Jerry, Curtis, Donald, Lyndon and Lydell Anderson, and Robert Lindholm.
Austin Funeral Home of Hallock was in charge of arrangements.
