My maternal Grandmother that I never got to know. My mother said she had light brown hair and beautiful blue eyes. She was of Scandinavian descent.
She was killed in 1928 when my mother was only 9 years old. She was struck down by a drunk driver - a hit and run. Probably one of the first recorded hit and run fatalities in North Dakota.
She was shopping in downtown Rugby, ND when she crossed the street in a crosswalk (with a green light) and was struck and killed instantly. Besides her husband Reuben, she left behind four children (my mother and three older teenaged brothers) to mourn her loss.
