My maternal Grandfather.

He fought with the U.S. Army in the Spanish-American War in 1898. He was with the 13th Minnesota Infantry. He is shown on the right in his uniform soon after he got back to the United States. He earned an honorable discharge as a Private First Class.

After the war, he graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1906. He and my Grandmother Esther (Farrington) were married on November 14, 1907. Their wedding portrait is shown on the right. He first set up a dental practice in Minot, ND and then later in Rugby, ND.

After the hit and run (drunk driving) death of Esther in 1927 he married Hannah Pierson in 1934. Reuben died in 1945. My Step Grandmother Hannah never remarried and she died in 1990. She lived alone for the last 45 years of her life.
