Patricia wanted to become a teacher and she received a BS in Education from Viterbo College, followed by a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Notre Dame University. She also did post-graduate work at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. She worked as an educator and served 20 years in various capacities including teacher, principal and superintendent at various elementary, junior high and collegiate schools in Iowa, Montana and Wisconsin. She also worked at Viterbo College as an instructor in the Education Department and in 1977 joined their Board of Directors where she served as a member and chairperson.
She served her religious community as Vice President (1982-1984) and President (1984-1990). During the last year of her life she was the director of the Francisan Center of Holistic Living in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Pat died at Villa St. Joseph in La Crosse, Wisconsin following surgery for a brain tumor at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. At 1:45pm on August 13th she opened her eyes, gazed upward and peacefully died with her brother Dick and Sisters Johanna, Margaret, Debbie and Luanne present. Sister Johanna described the room as being alive with the Presence of God.
Pat was a wonderful woman, kind, caring and joyful. One of her favorite Bible verses was Micah 6:8 "This is what Yahweh asks of you; to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God."
