John Dale Ashby beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend returned to his loving Heavenly Father on Friday, August 19, 2011.
He was born October 30, 1918 to John Fred and Elizabeth Annie Jones Ashby in Bountiful, Utah. He married Ruth Margie Anderson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 10, 1940, later divorced. He married Dorris Marie Price September 17, 1948, deceased. He married Betty Marie Brown in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on October 13, 1973.
Dale was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of his life and held many church callings. Dale and Betty served in the Missouri Independence Mission of the LDS church in 1990. Dale also served for many years in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples. His family and close friends will remember him for his love of the Gospel, his love of his family and his garden.
Dale is survived by two sons; Jerry (Sandy) Ashby and Dennis (Tina) Ashby, two daughters; Meridel Barden and Penny Piekarski, one stepson; Gary (Susan) Brown, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dale is preceded in death by his wives, four sisters; Ruth, Beula, Eva and Beth, two sons-in-law; James Barden and Lee Piekarski, one stepson; Grant Brown and two grandsons; Justin and Jared Brown.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 at 1p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy. A gathering for family and friends will be held Friday from 11:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. prior to services.
Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
