MOODY, BERNICE HOOD, member of a Dallas County pioneer family, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2003. Born Bernice Vinyard on May 6, 1909, she lived and worked on a farm that is now a part of the City of Duncanville with her father and sister Roma (Vinyard) Brandenburg. Her mother died when she was four years old from childbirth complications. Bernice continued to live in the Duncanville area all her life, commuting from that area in a Model T ford with her sister and others to graduate from Sunset High School in 1929. Several years ago she was recognized as one of the oldest living graduates of Sunset. Always interested in education because she felt her's was so hard earned, she served as President of the Duncanville P.T.A. in 1963, and avidly supported the Duncanville Pantherette basketball program. A life-long member of First United Methodist Church of Duncanville, Bernice was baptized there, married there, and will be memorialized there. Services will be held on Saturday March 1 at 2:00 pm. She will be buried at Wheatland Cemetery alongside her first husband L.M. "Tub" Hood who preceded her in death in 1968. Her second husband Sherman Moody died in 1983. She is survived by two daughters, Merle Ann and husband Randy Roten and Robin and husband Bill Mote, all of Cedar Hill; Four grandchildren: Rex and Renee Roten and Clayborne and Chad Mote, and sister Roma Brandenburg of Duncanville
