1941-2003

George Daniel Mayfield, age 61, of Pensacola, passed away Friday, April 25, 2003 in a local hospital.

George entered military service as a Seaman Recruit, USN, graduated from US Army Officer Candidate School and retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel with over 29 years of service. His last military assignment was as Assistant Commandant, US Army Reserve Command and General Staff College, 3385th US Army Reserve School.

He was a Senior Pharmaceutical Sales Representative with Glaxo-Smith-Kline for over 18 years in the Pensacola area. He held a Juris Doctorate from the Birmingham School of Law.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda L. Mayfield; daughter, Teri Seagraves and husband Chandler; son, George Daniel Mayfield, Jr. and wife Deanna; grandchildren, Courtney, John and Kyle O'Connor and Hannah Mayfield.

Funeral services will be 10:45 AM Monday, April 28, 2003 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Fred Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery. Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, April 27, 2003 at Faith Chapel South.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association.
