Elizabeth was born in Willoughby (Ebenezer Settlement), Welland, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Gabriel Morgenstern/Morningstar and Maryann Lapp. She married George Henry Heximer on 5 Nov 1850 at St Paul's Anglican Church in Bertie, Welland, Ontario, Canada and together they had 16 children, all born in Willoughby. Elizabeth resided in Willoughby until three years prior to her death, when she moved to Niagara Falls, Ontario to be with her daughter. It is believed that Elizabeth died in Niagara Falls, although her death was registered in the Township of Stamford, Welland, Ontario, Canada.

Of the 16 children born to George and Elizabeth, 3 gravestones have yet to be located. They are:
1. Dina A (1858-1917), married John Wilhelm in 1879
2. Roseanna 'Rosa' (1862-1956), married (1) Cornelius G Gabel in 1884 and (2) Unknown Cunningham
3. William (1868-1887)
