Mrs. Elizabbeth Poppenberg, 87, a long time resident of Brainerd, died today at her home at 620 Second avenue, Northeast, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock in St. Francis Catholic Church with Rev. James Hogan officiating. Burial will be Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call at the home from Sunday noon until time of services.
Mrs. Poppenberg was born Aug. 12, 1854, in Germany. She came to the United States as a young girl.
Survivors are two sons, Henry J. of Bemidji and Matthew J. of Duluth; and three daughters, Mrs. W. S. McClenahan of Brainerd, Mrs. D. B. McAlpine of Ironton and Miss Marjorie M. Poppenberg, at home. Her husband preceded her in death. (Brainerd Daily Dispatch, 06 December 1941, p. 2)
