Cenotaph for Moses Little, who was actually buried on his land, due to his death from small-pox.

Fourth of five children and third of three sons born to George Little and Alice Poore.

From "The Descendants of George Little, who came to Newbury, Massachusetts, in 1640" by George Thomas Little, 1857-1915, published 1882, ID #4, page 7-8:
Moses, born 11 March 1657; married Lydia, daughter of Tristram Coffin and Judith Somerby Greenleaf, who was born 22 April 1662. She married second 18 March 1695, John, son of John and Mary Pike, by whom she had five daughters and one son (?).
Mr Little lived upon the homestead at Newbury. He served in King Philip's War and was, it was said, the town collector. Two of his account books were recently in existence. At his death he was the executor of the estate of Joseph Morin, and perhaps settled other estates.
He died of small-pox, and according to the practices of that time, was kept during his illness in a room so heated that ones hand could not rest on the walls without discomfort. It is the tradition that he caught the disease while passing a house where infected clothing was exposed from the windows, and that his physician, while in a state of intoxication, administered a prescription which hastened, if it did not cause, his death. He died 8 March 1691 was was buried in the vicinity of his home. His estate was appraised at £1065.7.
