Abdul graduated from The American University, Cairo, Egypt. He then taught sciences at a Womens College in Benghazi, Lybia.
He came to the United States and to the University of Kentucky to take a BS in Pharmacy. In 1967 he received a PhD in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University. Abdul worked for 28 years in pharmaceutical research for Dow Chemical Company.
Carolyn Virtue and Abdul Abdallah were married in 1965 in Columbus, Ohio. Abdul's loves in life were his family with two daughters, his years in research work, and caring for his orchard of over 250 fruit trees he had planted near Zionsville.
Dr. Abdallah was a member of the Zionsville Rotary Club and the Society for Neuroscience.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughters, Anna Ellis (Dr. Wayne Ellis) of Franklin Township and Amy Williamson (Kilby Williamson) of Chicago; and grandchildren, Michael Ellis, Aliya Ellis, Scarlett Williamson, and Darby Williamson; brothers, Zaki Abdullah, of Florence, Kentucky and Samieh Abdallah, of Amman, Jordan; nieces, Stephanie Abdullah, Diane Erlandson, and other nieces and nephews in Palestine, Brazil, South America, and Florida, USA also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Naomi, and his brothers, Abdallah and Mahmoud, of Palestine and Hilmi and Joseph, of Brazil, South America.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Zionsville.
A service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at the funeral center, Rev. Scott Tyring officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Zionsville Cemetery.
