~0bit~Maud Reece Sauer, daughter of Abraham Ward Reece and Angelina (Betzer) Reece, was born in Linn County, near Troy Mills, Iowa, on June 28, 1885 and departed this life in this section of the county with the exception of the last few years where she lived in and near Brandon. On March 19, 1903, she was united to Charles Sauer. To this union were born two daughters and three sons. She was converted in the year of 1908 and a few months later was baptized and joined the Hoover Wesleyan Church, to which she remained a faithful member. She loved the church and was always concerned about the work of the Lord. She spent her life and strength for others until she suffered a stroke early last winter and had been a patient suffer until the Lord's summons came last Friday evening. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband and children, Almond Sauer of Flint, Michigan; Merle Yarrington of Waterloo; Donald Sauer of Quasqueton; Gertrude Boies and Wilbur Sauer of Brandon. Also twins, Wilma Sauer and Wilda Sauer Westphal whom she mothered from babyhood; and ten grandchildren, besides her aged mother, Angelina Reece of Brandon; a brother, William Milton Reece of Cedar Rapids and a sister, Effie Annette Peyton of Troy Mills. Her father and a sister, Mrs Howard (Lillie Mae) Steele preceded her in death. Funeral services were held in the Hoover Church, Sunday, May 14, the body was returned to Quasqueton because the oldest son failed to arrive. Internment was at the Hoover Cemetery Tuesday morning at 9:30. The funeral service was preached by the Rev. Andy James of Gutherie Center, Iowa.
