LONGS | John Quincey ''Quince'' Adams, 91, of Longs, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Conway Medical Center.
He was born June 18, 1917 in Conway, a son of the late John P. and Effie Hardee Adams. Quince was predeceased by one sister, Clara Belle Sawyer and her husband, Woodrow; two brothers, Oneil Adams and Elbert Adams; and a very special niece, Diane T. Holmes.
Mr. Adams, along with his wife, lived in the Wampee community of Horry County all of his life and was known by all. He was the one you never forgot once you met him. Quince farmed the community until his health would no longer allow. He loved children and loved to work. The Wampee community will always remember Mr. Adams under his pecan tree waving as we all passed on Highway 90.
Survivors include his wife, Lottie C. Adams of Longs; one brother, Larue Adams and his wife, Wanda, of Raleigh, N.C.; three special nephews, W.L. Holmes of Longs, John O. Adams and his wife, Sharon, of Longs, and Larry Sawyer and his wife, Page, of Lumberton, N.C.; and two special nieces, Janet M. Adams of Charlotte, N.C. and Robin Thompkins of Conway. Survivors also include a special great-nephew, Jamie W. Holmes and his wife, Ashley, of Longs; a special great-niece, Amy H. Richardson and her husband, Bryan, of Conway; and many other nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Adams were ''Uncle Quince and Aunt Lottie'' to so many not mentioned here and will always be. He will remain in all of our hearts and he loved you all.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 from the Ward Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sawyer of Lumberton, N.C. officiating. The family will have a private interment following the services.
Visitation will be held immediately after the services Saturday afternoon at the home of Amy H. Richardson, 2124 Hidden Oak Drive, Conway, SC 29527.
