Adolph "Ed" Prose, 94, of Sarasota, formerly of Chicago, Ill. died Dec. 23, 2010.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Hillside, Ill. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Preceded in death by Josephine, his wife of 66 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Dot Prose of Osprey, Marilyn Miller of Sarasota; numerous family members; and a wide circle of friends.
He was a commercial airline pilot for United Air Lines from 1940 until his retirement in 1976 and served in the Air Transport Command during WWII. He was recognized as a Master Air Pilot of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators and was involved in numerous antique airplane organizations.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Venice Lions Club, Manasota Theater Organ Society, was one of the original Deputy volunteers for the Sarasota County Sheriff's Marine Patrol and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Osprey, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Building Fund", P.O. Box 1097, Osprey, FL 34229.
