Roy Clair ABRAHAM was born July 28, 1883 at home on the ABRAHAM ranch in the Elkhorn River Valley near Valley, Douglas County, Nebraska. His parents were John McCue ABRAHAM and Catharine Margaret BARTLETT; they had married February 5, 1865 in Mount Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa. He was the seventh child of seven children born to John and Catharine. His siblings were: Lot, Margaret, James, Charles, John, and Arthur.

Maud Evelyn SUMNER ABRAHAM (sister-in-law to Roy C. ABRAHAM and the wife of Roy's brother, James Willard ABRAHAM) clipped the following obituary for Roy from a newspaper and placed it in her scrapbook:

Roy C. ABRAHAM, age 79 years, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, March 21, 1963. He was born on a farm northeast of Valley[, Nebraska] and grew up and attended school in that area.

He and his family lived on the farm now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy KIRCHMANN until 1919, when they moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas. In 1936, the ABRAHAMs moved to Oklahoma to make their home. Mr. Abraham was engaged in farming and dairying most of his life. He was a member of First Christ Church in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Survivors are three sons, Clair of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Reverend Harold of Kansas City, Kansas; and Vernon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, and one sister.

Pastor Paul R. MOON officiated at the funeral services which were held Monday, March 25th, at 3 p.m. from the Swanson Funeral Home in Valley. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Dora RITNER. Pallbearers were Gene BRYANT, Cullen BRYANT, Sterling BURKE, Warner MILLER, Donald WAUGH, and Lewis WOLLEN. Interment was in the Elk City Cemetery. Swanson Funeral Home at Valley was in charge of arrangements.

NOTE: The name of the newspaper which published the above obituary was not identified in Maud's scrapbook, but it appears to be from a local Nebraska newspaper.
