Marion Bernice ("Molly") was born on April 26, 1894, in Dedham, Maine. She was one of 12 children born to Edwin and Ida May (Webber) Rideout. She attended schools in the Ellsworth, Maine area and graduated from high school in 1912. She obtained a teaching certificate and taught school in Maine before coming to Montana in 1915. At that time Marion taught in an elementary country school near Conrad.

On Sept. 9, 1918, she married August L. Diemert, who had homesteaded south of Rudyard. He farmed and she taught in the Kenilworth school west of Big Sandy. In 1920 she quit teaching to raise a family.

Marion and August were active in St. Ann's (Black Coulee) Mission south of Rudyard for many years. After raising five children, she returned to teaching in 1944. She taught at various country schools in Hill and Choteau counties for the next 19 years, retiring in 1963.

August had retired from farming in 1959, when they moved into Havre and made their home. Marion's memberships were many, including Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Hingham, Holy Family Altar Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary, M.E.A., and Black Coulee Home Demonstration Club. Her hobbies were many, including quilting, knitting, sewing, crocheting and tatting. She loved to play the piano and sing, and at quiet moments she loved to read. She was an excellent dryland gardener. Probably her best attribute was her love for people, and she was always there when needed.

In March of 1978, Marion moved into the Liberty County Rest Home in Chester. Marion died on Friday, Dec. 28th at the nursing home at the age of 85 years.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd of Rudyard and Fritz of Selah, Washington; 3 daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Eleanor) Wendland of Rudyard, Mrs. Victor (Rosina) Pegar of Big Sandy, and Mrs. Phillip (Lorena) Wendland of Three Forks; 40 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all 11 siblings.
