WW1 of 1914-18 he served with the 2nd Depot Cyclist Platoon C.E.F. He enlisted at Winnipeg Manitoba on Jan. 25th 1917 at age 18. He listed his occupation as "Chauffeur" (See attached WW1 enlistment papers) Born in Hooglede, West Flanders Belgium in 1898 he immigrated with his family to Canada in 1906 settling in St. Boniface Manitoba.
After his WW1 service he met and married Elsie Bonton in 1922. Having his own family, they moved out West to British Columbia settling in the New Westminster area.
WW2 of 1939-45 He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engneers (RCE) in Vancouver BC on Jan. 6th 1940 at age 42. He listed his occupation as "Tram Driver"
After his WW2 service he returned to New Westminster, On Oct. 14th 1976 he passed away at age 78 and was buried in the Veterans Section of the Frazer View Cemetery in New Westminster BC.
His wife Elsie followed him in 1987. Buried with them is their daughter Leonie.
