FREMONT, Utah--Our kind and beloved, Vern Lewis Nelson, age 84, died Sunday, July 25, 1999 in Richfield, Utah.
He was born March 8, 1915 in Fremont, the first son and second child of Lewis Peter and Della Amelia Taylor Nelson. He married Marjorie Taylor, February 14, 1938 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were later divorced. After his marriage he worked as a farmer in Wayne County. He later moved to Richfield and worked as a meat cutter and then to Provo. He lived for many years in San Angelo, Texas where he worked as a meat cutter. After his retirement from meat cutting, he herded sheep in Utah and Idaho. He was an active member of the LDS Church and enjoyed going to the temple. He married Jessie Heaps Giles, September 19, 1989 in Richfield, Utah. They were later divorced.
He is survived by his children: Vernis and Rex Taylor of West Valley City; Robert and Lynn Nelson of Draper; four grandchildren: Melanie, Julie, Scott Robert and Justin Lewis; nine great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Ione and Wayne Blackburn; Kirk (deceased) and Etta Nelson; Berneal and Dee Hatch; Lars and Anita Nelson all of Loa; Twila and Fremon Sorensen of Lyman; Ellen and Willis Spafford of Richfield; Dorothy (deceased) and Mont Ellett of Bicknell.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 1999 at 1 P.M. in the Fremont L.D.S. Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. and at the ward chapel in Fremont, Wednesday from 11 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
