Funeral services for Peter L. Matuseski, age 77, of Moose Lake, were held on Saturday, February 12, 1994 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Moose Lake. Father Michael Hayes officiated. Music was by Teggie Garvey and Warner Wagner. Casket bearers were Warren Weske, Merlin Fadness, John Doherty, Dick Gassert, Bennie Mohelski and John DeRungs. Honorary bearers were Clarence Carlson, Donald Olson and Emerson Strandberg. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Moose Lake.

Peter Louis Matuseski was born on September 5, 1916 in Moose Lake to Albert and Pauline (Oderbraske) Matuseski. He was raised and attended school in Mooses Lake, graduating in 1934. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and in 1939 became a Standard Oil bulk agent. Peter married Shirley Wanda Streck on July 17, 1940 in Crookston, MN. Peter was a United States Navy veteran, serving in the Asian-Pacific Theater from 1944 until 1946. Upoon returning, he went back to work for Standard Oil until his retirement in 1976. Peter enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a patient at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth at the time of his death on Tuesday, February 8, 1994. He was a member of the Moose Lake VFW Harry J. Madsen Post #273, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Post #479, and Holy Family Catholic Church. He was also on the Water and Light Commission and the Moose Lake Cemetery Board.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara, in May of 1971, two brothers, Joseph and Theodore and a sister, Lucy Carlson.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, sons Richard (Jil) of Bloomington and Tom of Moose Lake, 4 brothers, Lawrence (Shirley) of Minneapolis, Donald (Carmel) of Scandia, David (Helen) of Moose Lake and Edward of Ft. Lauderdale; 4 sisters, Sister Sophia Matuseski of St. Paul, Cecilia Johnson of San Fernando, CA, Agnes (Ted) Kusmak of Alexandria and Margaret Heiser of Baltimore, MD, and 7 grandchildren.
