Circa 1803, Jeremiah went with his family from Connecticut to Broome County, New York.

The Auburn Theological Seminary information indicates that Jeremiah and Nancy married in 1821 and Nancy was Miss Nancy Spencer of Hartford, Connecticut.

Jeremiah studied at Auburn, in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York and was licensed to preach by the Chenango Presbytry in 1828. He preached at Triangle (Broome County), Chenango Forks (Broome County), Richford, Bristol, Liberty (Cohocton, Steuben County), and Penfield (Monroe County), all in New York. Jeremiah was minister at the Congregational Church in Triangle, New York 1831-1836 and 1849-1850.

Circa 1851, Jeremiah married Clarissa Thompson in New York.

In 1866, Jeremiah went to Lansing, Iowa, where some of his children lived. He organized a Presbyterian church at Rossville, Iowa, which he served until he died in 1868.
