The youngest child of Ira and Evelyn Butler, Jere grew up in Memphis, attended Central High (1951) and Memphis State. He served in the Navy Reserve for four years, and was a 17 year liver transplant survivor.
Jere was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Evelyn Butler, and his brother, Allen Butler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa, of 32 years; a son, Martin (Dianne) Butler; and three daughters, Elizabeth (Jerry) Magness, Louise (Allen) Bostick and Lynn Allen. He has nine grandchildren, Matthew, Jenna, Lauren, Luke, Mack, Natalie, Ashley, Molly and his namesake, Jere; and two great- grandchildren, Parker and Aiden.
Jere will be missed by numerous loving brothers and sisters-in-law.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
