Ira H. Butler, divisional merchandise manager for Gerber's, died of a heart attack at 11:50 Friday night at his home, 1474 Rosemary Lane. He was 62. Known throughout the country for his knowledge of fine linens and piece goods, Mr. Butler had traveled extensively to New York and other cities as a buyer for Gerber's. He had been an employee of the firm 39 years. Born in Dyersburg, Tenn., Mr. Butler came to Memphis in 1918 and began his merchandising career with Wm. R. Moore Co. He was featured in the June issue of the Merchants Trade Journal. Mr. Butler was a graduate of the old Hall-Moody College at Martin, Tenn. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Service will be at 4 this afternoon at National Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Chitwood Butler; two sons, Jerry M. Butler of 4614 Boyce and Allen H.
