On the evening of Monday, August 15, 2011, our sweet mother, Patricia, passed away in the presence of her loving family.

Patricia was born July 16, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Thomas Reese Terry and Mary Elizabeth Peck. She was raised in Salt Lake City on the Avenues with her brother Woodrow Galt and her sister Mary Marjorie.

She graduated from East High School in 1939. During her high school years, at the age of fifteen, she was asked to sing at the first showing of television downtown at the Paris Co. in Salt Lake City.

Later, while attending BYU, she met her beloved Moroni Taylor Abegg and they married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 27, 1944.

Patricia faithfully served and supported her husband and family with all her heart. Some of her church callings include Ward and Stake YW President, Relief Society instructor, Chairman of the Albuquerque Stake BYU Education Week, and early morning seminary teacher.

She shared her beautiful solo voice often to inspire many through the years at church meetings and on stage. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family playing games, telling stories, and singing fun songs together.

Her deep love of the scriptures and her unwavering faith along with her desire to teach her family Gospel principles were paramount in her life and we love her dearly for it. Her missionary efforts and righteous example were tireless.

She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her eight children: Patricia (Daron) Ockey, Pamela Nemelka, Wendy (Mark) Cicchetti, Rinda (Rafe) Black, M. Taylor (Marie) Abegg II, Sherman (Joy) Abegg, Marjorie Cartwright, and Norman (Melissa) Abegg; forty grandchildren; and forty great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the Cottonwood Twelfth Ward Chapel, 1770 East Spring Lane (5240 South), Holladay, Utah. A viewing will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
