1957 ~ 2012
Sherman Terry Abegg, age 55, unexpectedly passed away on a sunny afternoon on March 30, 2012. He was surrounded by three of his four sons and a close friend. They were on their way to do one of the activities that he loved most, target shooting.
Sherm was born in Walnut Creek, California on January 26, 1957 to Moroni Taylor and Patricia Flora Ann Terry Abegg. Sherm graduated from East High School in 1975, served an LDS mission in Frankfurt Germany, and married his sweetheart, in the Salt Lake Temple on August 8, 1979. Together they raised five children.
Sherm loved life and loved being with family and friends, from camping to Sunday dinners. He was a charismatic salesman and considered all his clients friends. He loved working with his hands, doing carpentry, and fixing old motorcycles and other machines. He loved riding motorcycles and shooting guns. Sherm continually served others and was a friend to all he met. He had a great sense of humor and a positive outlook. He had a strong testimony of his Savior and lived by His example. Sherm left a great example for his children of service, laughter, hard work, respect, love, friendship, and a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife , his children. Brothers and sisters . Preceded in death by his parents Moroni Taylor and Patricia Abegg and his good friend and brother-in-law Scott Cartwright.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday April 3rd from 6-8pm at the Russon Brothers Mortuary at 295 N Main in Bountiful, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at 11am at the LDS Chapel on 950 N. Main St in Centerville, Utah with a viewing that morning from 9:45-10:45. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sherman Abegg Memorial Fund at Zions Bank.
