Baby son of Michael Frey and Gesina Johannah (Hasebrock)Frey. Natives of Germany and after their marriage in Piqua, Ohio, Michael and Gesina Hasebrock Frey lived on a farm for some years in Ohio,and in 1878 removed to Kansas. Twelve children were born of this union, five died in early childhood.

Michael, the father, was a butcher in Germany but after coming to Kansas indulged in that vocation only to the extant of performing some work for his neighbors. He reared his family on a farm, was a man of excellent character, and was the owner of 240 acres of his home farm. Source: "Kansas and Kansans".

OBIT: The Daily Union newspaper of Junction City, Kansas, dated 19 May 1902 ran this death notice.....MICHAEL FREY, Sr. DEAD.....Michael Frey, Sr. died this after noon at 1:30 o'clock at his home west of the city. He had been ill some time with peritonitis. The deceased was 57 years old and had been a resident of this county for many years. He leaves a wife and seven children: John, William, Michael, Jr., Henry, Mrs. Gerhardt, Mrs. Charles Hoyt, and Miss Marguerite. No arrangements have yet been made for the funeral.
