Arthur was born in Knox Co Ohio in 1873 and moved with his family to Cedar County/Dixon Co area of Nebraska and then the family moved to Kansas where Arthur was married in 1899, that same year the entire family with the exception of Arthur's sister Bertha, moved to Orange Co. California. Arthur had many enterprises in CA after his wife died, at one time, he had a gold mine claim. He was an expert at grafting fruit trees and plants and creating hybrids. His passion was roses, he loved roses very much and he would create beautiful drawings of roses and send them in letters to family. Arthur also operated a dairy for 23 years. He moved to Paradise CA in 1933 and was a charter member of the Senior Citizens Association. At his death he was survived by a son Hugh of Napa and two daughters Hilda Davis of Fallon Nev and Doris Jarred of Paradise, he had 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Arthur had resided at 5372 Clark Road,Paradise, he died in a local nursing home.

Funeral services were held at the Paradise Chapel of the Pines. The Rev K. Richard Johnson pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiated.
Arthur is buried beside his 6th wife Anna. His first wife and mother of his children is buried in
Santa Ana Cemetery Santa Ana, Orange County, California, USA next to his parents.
