∼Mrs. Josie Alice Franklin, 76, 109 Hartwell Court, Louisville, a former resident of Campbellsville, died Jan. 18, 1971 at St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville. Mrs. Franklin was born Nov. 24, 1894 in Green County, daughter of the late Thomas Virgil and Lolie Bridgewater Gupton. May 15, 1920 she was married to Johnnie Franklin, who preceded her in death, Jan. 26, 1946. To this union was born 9 children. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Frances Grooms and Mrs. Ruth Robinson; five sons, William E. Franklin and Omer (Dutch) Franklin, all of Louisville; James W. Franklin, Lehigh Acres, Florida; Donald Franklin, stationed with the Army in Germany; Ray Franklin, with U. S. Navy stationed in Philadelphia, Pa. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wallace, Mrs. Maude DeMar, both of Louisville, and Mrs. Grace Robinson, Bowling Green. Two sons precede their mother in death: 3-M 1st class Lawrence Franklin and Virgil Valmont Franklin. Also three brothers and one sister, John W., Robert and Assian Gupton, and Mrs. Tipp G. Durham. She also has several nieces and nephews in Taylor County. Funeral services were conducted at Ratterman Funeral Home on 4th St., in Louisville, Wednesday, by Rev. J. C.
