Ira was the second son born to Francis Walker and Mary Elizabeth (Million) Story, and the only one who lived past infancy. His older brother Hugh died before he was 6 months old.
Ira married Nettie Adelia Osborne 15 June 1910 in Murrayville. At least two babies were born to them, but neither survived. Nettie died 16 August 1952 and Ira remarried three years later to Mrs. Florence Ehrich Challiner. She was wonderfully kind to him and to his family and friends.
