Mr. George Andrew (Junior) Harvey Jr., 74, of Bridgewater, died Monday, Febrary 13, 2006, at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.

Mr. Harvey was born in Morgantown, W.Va. on August 31, 1931, and was a son of the late George Jeremiah and Louise Belle (Roach) Harvey. He had lived in Elkton before moving to Bridgewater.

He was a retired police officer for the Town of Bridgewater for 32 years. Since his retirement, he worked part-time in the maintenance department since 1993. He was a member of the Bridgewater Fire Department, where he drove the fire truck, and also the rescue squad ambulance when needed. He was also a member of the Police Academy and Fraternal Order of Police. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was united in marriage on March 1, 1953, to Harriet Dearborn Harvey, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Vicky, wife of Larry Michael of Staunton; three sons, Garry, husband of Doris Harvey of Madison, Va., Larry Harvey of Luray, Va., and James, husband of Jennifer Harvey of Staunton, Va.; one sister, Mildred Lucille Shifflett of Elkton, Va. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Bruce Harvey, Tanner Harvey, Michael Guyer, Andrew Guyer, Jane Lloyd and Spencer Lloyd, one great-grandchild, Sierra Harvey.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Thomas Rothgeb officiating. Burial will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery, Bridgewater, Va.

The family will receive friends at the Johnson Funeral Service, Bridgewater, on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the home, 111 West View St., Bridgewater, or the home of his sister, 112 West Spotswood Ave., Elkton.
