My great aunt Bessie was born in Knottsville, WV, on February 10, 1906. She was the youngest of three children. Her mother, Sydnie Frances Harvey, is also buried in Woodsdale. Her father, George Harvey, is buried in Elkton, Virginia. Her second husband, Frank Held, is buried in Bluemont Cemetery in Grafton. He was the true love of her life.

To say I adored this woman would be a gross understatement. She was an absolute joy. Some of my fondest memories are when she would come to visit for a few days during the summer. She loved Elvis and always bought me his albums for Christmas and/or birthdays. She got me hooked on DAYS OF OUR LIVES when I was only 10. And she LOVED shows like TWILIGHT ZONE, THE OUTER LIMITS and NIGHT GALLERY. She had the greatest laugh. It was a contagious cackle that would, without fail, always make you feel better once you heard it.

Her son gave her the greatest epitaph ever given as far as I am concerned. He said, "Momma didn't have any enemies because she didn't know how to be one."

And THAT is the truth.
