Ray Watton Dies; Retired Upholsterer

Ray Cecil Watton, 75, of 222 Lincoln Street, died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday (12 Sept) in Bethesda Hospital where he had been a patient two weeks.

Mr. Watton was a native of Long Run, West Virginia but had resided in Zanesville for the past 50 years.

He was born Dec. 8, 1888, a son of Thomas and Rebecca Hayhurst Watton. He was a retired upholsterer.

He was a member of Fair Oaks Baptist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Charlotte Garrett Watton; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys HIETT of the home and Mrs. Ruby GRANDSTAFF of 937 Market Street; a son Brooks Watton of 1041 ½ Blue Avenue; a brother Guy of Moxahala Avenue; a sister, Ida Chilcote of 1138 Roosevelt Avenue; 10 grandchildren.

A son Charles, preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Putnam Chapel of Bolin-Bryan Funeral Home with Rev. Meredith Lasley officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Putnam Chapel after 1 p.m. today.
