He was born June 23, 1935, in Stevens Point, to the late Victor and Isabelle (Rogers) Heck, and attended P.J. Jacobs High School. On Aug. 16, 1958, he was married to Elaine Krueger, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover.

Victor entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 18, 1954, in Milwaukee, and served as a quarry and surface machine operator, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 17, 1956, at Fort Rucker, Ala., at the rank of PFC(T).

He had worked for Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids, and later was a dryer operator at Foremost in Plover for almost 30 years before retiring. He was a member of the Plover Fire Department for 35 years, retiring as assistant chief.

Victor was also a member of Teamsters Local 662, the St. Bronislava Holy Name Society, and coached boys' little league baseball for many years. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards with family and friends, and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildrens' activities.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Plover; two sons, Dan (Juanita) of Plover, and Darrell (Jeni) of Bancroft; two daughters, Denise (Lonnie) Firkus, and Karen (Randall) Herman, both of Stevens Point; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and two sisters, Rosie Smith of Milwaukee, and Betty (Joe) Wysocki of Whiting. In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Norton.

The family thanks the ICU staff at both St. Michael's Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital, and for the spiritual support given by the St. Bronislava Parish staff.

The funeral Mass will be held at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, with the Rev. James Trempe officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time for Mass.
