Dick grew up in Reydon graduating high school in 1949. After graduation he furthered his education at Panhandle A & M University in Goodwell, Oklahoma until he wasn't financially able to continue. Dick later worked at various places before being drafted into the United States Army in 1952. He served 15 months seeing the end of the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he was married to Clara Mae Bond Parks at Arapaho, Oklahoma on November 26, 1954. After their marriage Dick worked for Safeway moving briefly to Colorado Springs and later to Canon City. In 1980 Dick and Clara moved to Reydon where they made their home. Besides his family, Dick's passion in life was horses which he passed down to his only son. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with the Cub and Boy Scouts and was an accomplishe artist.
Thoughout Dick's life he was the proudest of his spiritual role not only in the church, but also leading his family to the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Gerald Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Clara, of the home; 1 son, Dick Parks and wife, Jeanne, Reydon, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Cindy Nunn and husband, Kenneth, Pampa, Texas, Connie Steffey and husband, Jon, Allison, Texas; 6 grandchildren, 1 brother, Byron Parks, Montrose, Colorado; 1 sister, Nadia Martin, Reydon, Oklahoma; several great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday, October 19, 2009 at 10:00 am at Reydon Community Building officiated by Randy Allen and Marty Field. Burial followed at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral service.
