Chester Smeal, who passed away at his home on Ogden avenue yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, was taken sick Friday evening last. He had had a heavy cold for several days but felt that he would be able to fight it off and continued at his employment in the Cross barber shop until compelled to take to his bed Friday evening. Pneumonia quickly developed and it was soon seen that the end was but the question of hours. All that medical skill could devise was supplied him, but to no avail.

Chester Smeal spent all his life in Clearfield and his passing away will be mourned by a large circle of friends. He engaged successfully in the barber business here and conducted The Dimeling shop for a number of years. He was in his 36th year.

He is survived by a widow and three small children. Also by three sisters, Mrs. Geo. L McCullough of Tyrone; Mrs. Earl Gearhart and Mrs. Ed Long of Clearfield, and one brother, Harry Smeal, of Clearfield. His sister, Mrs. Bertha Thompson, died at 4 o'clock Thursday, Dec. 5th, of influenza.
