Leo was raised in Rains County, Texas as a youth and was taught to play the fiddle very well by his maternal grandfather Mabry W. Wafer, an early pioneer settler of that county, who he knew for almost 16 years. He was a landowner in that county as well. He loved seeing his family, telling stories, singing and playing music. After working in Dallas, Texas for decades he retired back to Rains County. He had an endless sense of humour and lived a good full life. Leo is buried near his parents Charles Columbus and Georgia Modena (Wafer) Adams.

By a grandson Douglas Micah Vail.
