Irene L. Harrington, 85 yrs., of Narvon, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Meadows Health Care Center at the Tel Hai Retirement Community, following an illness.
She was born in Frazer on March 5, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Emily (Mattson) Hettinger. She was the wife of the late Everett T. Harrington, who died in 1984.
Irene was a graduate of the Honey Brook High School, Class of 1944. She was employed with the RCA Company of Lancaster, Johnson Jewelry Store and Charles News Agency both of Downingtown, and Von Gehr Jewelry Shoppe of New Holland. She was a member of the Bridgeville E.C. Church, the Blue Ball Sr. Center, and the New Holland Women's Club.
She was the last immediate member of her family.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. This is the way Irene lived each day of her years. She found great joy in the simple things of life. Her message to all that read this obituary is to Love the Lord, with all your heart and rejoice with him.
A graveside service and interment will be held at the Honey Brook Presbyterian Cemetery on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 10 AM, with Pastor Philip S. Walck officiating. There will be no funeral home service or viewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Irene to the Bridgeville E. C. Building Fund, 1674 Division Highway, Narvon, Pa. 17555.
