George and his family migrated to Camden County, Missouri around 1883-1884 and he died there on 18 May 1886 in Branch Place, Camden County, Missouri. George had suffered from Epilepsy due to an accident during the Civil War and was prone to seizures. He served as a Private in Company C, 119 Illinois Infantry from Jan 1864 to Aug 1865 in the Union Army. His family returned home to find him deceased by the fireplace. He was buried on 19 May 1886 in the New Freedom Cemetery, Freedom, Missouri.
