Obituary: The Alabama Enquirer, May 22, 1890

Died near Hartselle on Friday, 16th inst., after several weeks illness of slow fever, MRS. ELIZABETH ELLIS. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church. She was buried at Liberty Church near McClanahan Springs, May 17th. Her funeral services were conducted by W. D. Thompson.

Near Hartselle, on Friday 16th inst, after several weeks illness of slow fever, Mrs. Elizabeth Ellis died. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church. She was a kind mother, a good neighbor and a strong pillow in the church. She was buried at Liberty Church near McClanahan Springs, May 17th. Her funeral services were conducted by the undersigned.-----W. D. Thompson

Elizabeth Bette Springfield was born Sept 6, 1834 in Tennessee. She was the d/o Samuel and Nancy Fuller Springfield.

The first marriage was to William Bosier Alexander who died in 1862 in South Carolina. Two children were born from the first marriage: Robert Monroe Alexander (1860-1949) and
William Bosier "Jr" Alexander (1862-1923).

In 1864 after Williams Death, she married Stephen D. Ellis and had four more children with him:
Samuel S Ellis (1866-1869),
James Harvey Ellis (1868-1919),
Rufus Claibourne Clabe Ellis (1874-1939),
Mary D A Ellis Harvall (1873-1892),
Nancy C Ellis Harvell (1876- abt 1895 in childbirth),
Emma J Ellis (1879-1893)
