"Amasa SKINNER...Revolutionary soldier; came to W[aitsfield] about 1798, from Shelburne, Mass., where he had settled as a boy with his older brothers; in early deeds is called "clothier" but in W. was a farmer; Rep., 1808-10, 1812-13, 1815; selectman, 1809;...He married, Mar. 13, 1788, Salome, dau. Gideon and Temperance (Chapman) Bushnell, who d. Oct. 8, 1850, in Illinois, where she went with her son-in-law, Dr. Frederick T. Minor, in 1833."
