He was a retired Conrail signal maintainer and an Army Air Force veteran. He was a member of Union Lodge 324 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and Loyal Order of the Moose 925 of Millerstown and a life member of Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863 and American Legion Post 298, both in Mifflintown.
He was the widower of Vera E. Viehorfer Sheets. Surviving are his mother, Bessie McKinley Sheets of the Nipple Convalescent Home, Maze; two brothers, Roy S. of HCR 67 Mifflin and Donald W. of Port Royal RR 2; and a sister, Sara Louise Varnes of Mifflintown RR 2.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Guss Funeral Home, Mifflintown. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nook. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
